Since 2009, IFSEL’s SEL Summer Institutes have helped educators bring sustainable SEL to life across whole school communities through powerful, experiential learning.
At both Institutes, we’ll explore IFSEL’s Whole Community Approach for Equity Rooted SEL by:
You’ll engage in a range of highly experiential, practical, and joyful sessions — with opportunities to tailor your experience based on your context, role, and the age of the students you serve.

Featured Focus: Designing Cultures of Belonging, with guest facilitators from schools implementing IFSEL practices
Explore how schools can intentionally build relational cultures, systems, and practices that ensure every student feels known, valued, and included.

Featured Focus: Staying Human in the age of AI, with guest facilitator Tricia Friedman
Examine how educators can navigate rapid technological change while protecting identity, connection, and what matters most in learning communities.
A central focus of the Institute is turning learning into practice, and you’ll leave with an action plan you feel confident and empowered to implement. Each day, dedicated Make It Happen sessions provide time to work independently or collaborate with others to refine your approach and next steps. We also conclude the Institute with a powerful and generative action planning process called “Ripples and Waves”.

Alongside the core sessions that focus on SEL practices and pedagogy, we have built in intentional opportunities for personal renewal - including starting each day with a facilitated ‘Focus and Center’ moment, our ever-popular social event, and daily closing circles.
